How Termal works, what it does not do, and where responsibility lies. Last updated: September 2026.
1. Acceptance
By creating an account and using Termal (the "Software"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software. The Software is published by TERMALOS(EI), a sole trader (entrepreneur individuel) established in Perpignan, France ("we", "us").
2. What the Software is - and what it is not
Termal is a self-hosted, agentless tool for monitoring and administering Linux servers over SSH. It runs on your machine and connects using credentials you supply. It is an instrument: it does not decide anything for you, does not review your commands for safety, and has no knowledge of what matters on your systems.
It is not a backup product, not a security audit, not a substitute for knowing what a command does. Before running anything destructive, you are expected to have working, tested backups.
3. Your responsibility as operator
You are solely responsible for: the servers you connect to and holding the authorizations required to administer them; every command executed through the Software, whether typed by you, triggered from the interface, or suggested by the AI copilot and confirmed by you; your backups and your ability to restore them; the security of your credentials, of the machine running Termal, and of your encryption key.
Use the Software only for lawful purposes and only on systems you own or are authorized to administer. Never use it to gain unauthorized access to a system or to disrupt a service.
4. The AI copilot
The copilot is an assistant, not an autonomous agent. It proposes commands; nothing runs until you confirm. It uses your API key with a third-party provider of your choice, and that provider's terms and privacy policy govern what you send it. Like any language model, it can be confidently wrong. Treat its output as a suggestion from a stranger: read it, understand it, then decide. It performs no malware scanning and gives no security guarantee.
5. Warranty
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its readings and metrics are accurate or complete. The free edition is supplied free of charge and carries no warranty whatsoever beyond what the law imposes.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, nor for any loss of data, loss of profit, downtime, service interruption or damage to your systems arising from the use of the Software - in particular where it results from a command you executed or confirmed, from a misconfiguration, from the absence of a usable backup, or from the failure of a third-party service.
Where our liability is nonetheless engaged, it is limited to the amount you actually paid us over the twelve (12) months preceding the event, or, for the free edition, to fifty (50) euros.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or wilful misconduct, for gross negligence, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded - including, for consumers, the statutory warranties of conformity and against hidden defects. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights.
7. Data
Termal runs on infrastructure you control. We do not collect, transmit or store your server data, your credentials or your terminal history. Any third-party service you configure (LLM provider, notification channels) is governed by that provider's own terms. See termalos.com/privacy.
8. Changes
These Terms may be updated. Continued use of the Software after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law. Disputes should first be raised at [email protected]. Consumers may refer the matter to a consumer ombudsman or to the European ODR platform; failing an amicable settlement, the courts designated by law have jurisdiction.
